Somalia

The home of Somalian people is that part of north-eastern Africa wich is generally known as "Horn of Africa"Some of 320,000 square miles in area,it is lies between the Equator and the twelfth degree of north latitude.

It is bounded on the north by the red Sea and and the Gulf of Aden on the east by the Indi Ocean,and on the West and South-West by Abyssinia and Kenya'Formerly known as British East Africa' this is taritory has been partitioned by treaty between Britian,France,Italy and Abyssisinia.

The British sphere,some 68,000 square miles in area and curiously like a ham in shape,accupies the north-centeral portion of the horn being bounded on the north by Gulf of Aden,on the east and extreme south-east by Italian Somaliland,on the south and the south-west by Abyssinia,and on the north-west by Franch Somaliland,and it has an average length of somwe 400 miles and depth in land,wich veries from 70 miles in the west to 100 miles in the center.

Somalia was known as the land of "PUNT" to the early Egyptions about 1700 'B.C' to the Greeks and Romans and it was Regio "Cinnamomifera" in Shebeli river you find almost every variety of scenery mountains like the Burdeb range that suddenly and unexpectedly rise straight out of the plain,large strips of rolling open pasture-land with grass that stands as high as a man's waist,great areas of dense bush and only occasionally barren desert devoid of vegetation,the traveller in land soon finds himself in a beautiful and luxuriant country.

Somalians are generally of good physique with heads well set on spare but athletic frames with proud bearing and a superb carriage bespeaking their cansciousness of a facial superiority over their neighbours,their profile is often classic the forehead is finely rounded and prominent their eyes are moderately large and deep-set ,their nose is usually straight but some-times snub or aquiline,their leps are not too thick and their hear is never wolly! but ringlety and some times quite straight in color they vary from light to dark brown and from dark brown to black,at the last is the comparatively rare colour in all around the world!
The Somalian women wear the "TOBE" corifined by a shash round the waist-Somalian nature is so complex all this adorment is most attractive, is generally of comelly appearance with good features and a slight and elegant figirs one of the peculiar charms of the Somali girl is a Sofls low and "plaintive voice" at first sight they are devoted to their children and effection shown by both the small child is a specially pleasing characteristic of the race,her costume moral sense is high sudged by oriental standards.
The traditional dress of Somalian man is called "TOBE" and sandal made by sant,the tope is conventional dress of the somalis men wear,it consists of about fifteen feet of cotton cloth with resembles of roman toga,men throw it over their shoulder and give it a turn round the waist,but when they working or fighting they use it as a lion-cloth wrapping it several times round the waist, so as to leave the arms and chestt bare.

The natural state of Somalia is entirely "Nomadic" who are continually moving with their camels,their most precious possion,their flocks and their herds with in their alooted area in search of fresh grass and possible water-holes.
